WHEN YOU MEET JESUS (1)

Again the next day John was standing with two of his disciples,

36And he looked at Jesus as He walked along, and said, Look! There is the Lamb of God!

37The two disciples heard him say this, and they followed Him.

38But Jesus turned, and as He saw them following Him, He said to them, What are you looking for? [And what is it you wish?] And they answered Him, Rabbi--which translated is Teacher--where are You staying?

39He said to them, Come and see. So they went and saw where He was staying, and they remained with Him [k]that day. It was then about the tenth hour (about four o'clock in the afternoon).

40One of the two who heard what John said and followed Jesus was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother.

41He first sought out and found his own brother Simon and said to him, We have found (discovered) the Messiah!--which translated is the Christ (the Anointed One).

42Andrew then led (brought) Simon to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, You are Simon son of John. You shall be called Cephas--which translated is Peter [Stone].

43The next day Jesus desired and decided to go into Galilee; and He found Philip and said to him, Join Me as My attendant and follow Me ( John 1:35-43 )

Good morning dearly beloved, I hope you had an excellent night rest and a great weekend. We are beginning another series titled "when you meet Jesus". Sometime last year, I was teaching a bible class and the topic we were treating was "witnessing". I asked each member of the class to name atleast one thing about them that had changed since they met Jesus. They couldn't name one. Then I told them that that means they have not been saved. Scripturally and from experience, you cannot meet Jesus and not have a new story. I had to lead them to Jesus.

Let's look at the above scripture. John the Baptist points out the lamb of God to his disciples and what is their reaction? They follow Jesus. You may have been in meetings, or read tracts or write ups like the one you are reading now, where Jesus was talked about as the king of kings, lord of lords who loves us abundantly despite our sinful nature, loves us enough to die for us. Beckoning on us to come to him. Can I plead with you, if you haven't given your life to Christ to make him your lord and saviour and experience the joy, peace and love that He gives that the world can't understand. Please say a prayer of repentance silently in your heart and accept Him. Congratulations on your new status as a Christian

Well, as for you who have been a Christian for ages and have nothing to show for it. Permit me to show you why. Looking at the above scripture , after John's  disciples left him and went after Jesus, Jesus asked them a profound question, "WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING FOR ?". When I was in S.S 3 I was having a bit of a rough time. No money to do certain things and it seemed my life was just useless, I had failed my utme and I was like why did God allow this to happen. I didn't want to serve Him again, didn't want to read my bible. I think I even sold or lost my bible that period. Then my fellowship president asked me a question "why are you a Christian". You see, when we ask Jesus, "will you come into my life" and He says yes and comes in. We don't hear him ask us, "what are you looking for ?", are you looking for happiness, comfort, money, cars, positions or will we answer like the disciples "Teachers were are you staying ?". That is Jesus its you we want, we want to bask in your presence, we know you are the only that can satisfy the yearning of our soul. You are all in all, you are all we need. Today, I ask you dearly beloved, " why are you a Christian ? "

Prayer point

Holy Spirit help me to never allow the worries of this world take away my eyes off Jesus
