NIV:Uriah said to David, “The ark and Israel and Judah are staying in tents, and my commander Joab and my lord’s men are camped in the open country. How could I go to my house to eat and drink and make love to my wife? As surely as you live, I will not do such a thing!”

AMP:Uriah said to David, The ark and Israel and Judah live in tents, and my lord Joab and the servants of my lord are camping in the open field. Shall I then go to my house to eat and drink and lie with my wife? As you live and as my soul lives, I will not do this thing.

AMP:Who killed Abimelech son of Jerubbesheth (Gideon)? Did not a woman cast an upper millstone upon him from the wall, so that he died in Thebez? Why did you go near the wall? Then say, Your servant Uriah the Hittite is dead also.

22

NIV:The messenger set out, and when he arrived he told David everything Joab had sent him to say.

Good morning dear reader. I hope you had an amazing and peaceful night rest. Welcome to a very beautiful and lovely Friday morning. In the part 1 and 2 of this series we looked at what temptation is, what the purpose of temptation is and some of the tools Christ has given us to overcome temptations. Specifically in part 2, we started treating each of these tools. I encourage you to read up the previous parts of this series. Today, we will be looking at the remainder of them.
3. The Holy Spirit:
The best gift that God has given me as a believer is not the gift of prophecy or speaking in tongues or what have you. The best gift that God has given me that am most and always very grateful for is the gift of the person of the Holy Spirit. Yes, I said the person of the Holy Spirit. He is a person not a thing or an expression. He is the best gift every and any Christain should have. Well, am so excited talking about the Holy Spirit, alleluia. But this morning we are concentrating on the influence of the Holy Spirit in helping us overcome our temptations. The Holy Spirit guides, directs and leads us through his promptings. He tells us ever so gently want to do, persons to keep away from, circumstances and situations to avoid etc. He supplies us with abundant grace to make and keep us as holy beings, temples of God, ambassadors of Christ etc. Sometimes, you wake up in the morning or He even wakes you up in the middle of the night to pray for you to receive strength in your spirit man for a challenge you will come up against later in the day or month. When you are confronted with a temptation, he quickly tells you what to do to overcome. My friend, let me tell you the secret of all great servants of God, their secret is their intimacy with the Holy Spirit.
4. Prayers :
When you are faced with trails and it seems you can't carry on, what do you do? You pray. What is prayer ? Prayer is simply communicating and talking to God and He replying you. Most of us don't realize that we also derive strength in our place of prayer. Scriptures says, if you fall in the day of adversity, your strength is weak. Prayer is not just about binding and loosing. But sometimes you just have to go to God and pour out your heart to Him. God is happy when you do so. When you honestly pour out your heart to Him and ask for assistance and help, He is happy. When you see people who are going through tough times and you still see them smiling, you wonder how they do that. One of their reasons is because of the effect of the place of prayer in their lives. Go talk to God dearly beloved and be refreshed. Scriptures tell us that David strengthened himself in the lord.
5. Right mindset :
The main purpose of this write-up so for us to get the right mindset about temptations and trials. Temptations and trials do not come our way to make us fall and miserable but rather as an opportunity for our faith to be strengthened to produce patience that is very precious which will make us lack nothing. Read up OVERCOMING TEMPTATIONS 1. Like apostle James tells us, we should rejoice when temptations come our way.
Even if you fall into temptations and trials that doesn't make you the unrighteousness of God. Read up SPIRITUAL WARFARE series, so you will understand better. When you hear believers say, I am holy, an habitation for the living God, they are not bragging. That is just the truth, don't let the devil steal away the joy of your salvation because you offended God. Rather just ask him for forgiveness and resolve not to do the same thing because he has already forgiven you. Let me explain with this story. A man had two daughters their names were Jane and Mary. Both loved their father dearly and of course he also loved them dearly. One day they broke into a heated argument and both sisters got angry with their dad, both of them insulted their father while Mary even went as far as slapping him. Now they both felt very bad about it but only Jane went to their father to ask for forgiveness. The dad laughed and said he had already forgiven them. Mary couldn't bring herself to ask for forgiveness because she felt her dad must really hate her. So she left home neither calling or texting. Five years later, the daughter couldn't take it anymore, she went home to meet her dad and ask for forgiveness. Then the dad said he had forgiven her five years ago. she didn't want to believe that, she denied herself of the wonderful relationship with her father for five years because she didn't want to believe her father could ever forgive her.
Many of us  are like Mary. We rate our sins and pass judgements on ourselves. I said this in our spiritual warfare series but I will say this again. Just the way when you were an unbeliever, an unsaved and a slave of sin in which nothing you ever did could make you a slave of righteous. In the same way, now that you are a believer, saved and a righteousness of God, nothing you did, do or will ever do will change that status.
I hope you have been blessed by today's writeup. Read, be blessed, comment and share to your friends on any social media in your country. Like our Facebook page Espiritus Koinonia. Join us again on sunday as we start another series on the Holy Spirit and His gifts. The world is dire need of the word of God. Help us spread the Word. Have a splendid weekend. Shalom!
