This morning, we will be treating the part 2, which is the concluding part of the series "ASKING AND RECEIVING". In the first part, we introduced this topic and looked at some keys to getting our prayers answered. If you have not read the part 1 of this series, then I enjoin you to do so. In this concluding part we will be looking at the remaining keys and certain conditions for asking and receiving. Just before I begin, I want to encourage someone to remain a believer no matter what. You see alot of believers are going through so many challenges and as such you probably have already given up on God because of the trials and difficulties you are going through, let me tell you, it pays to serve God and remain with Him (James 1:12). Remember that we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses(Hebs 12:1) and so you really have no reason to let your trial derail you from serving and remaining committed to God. If your excuse is academics then from the cloud of witnesses, someone will come out and say 'I went through the same and I remained faithful', if it is finances, the same happens. So you see that you really have no excuse, remember there is nothing new under the sun. Hear me sir, hear me ma, no matter how difficult or unbearable the phase you are in right now may be, just remember this dearly beloved, this is just another phase that will pass away and no matter how dark the night is, it can never stop a new dawn. James 1:3-5.
Let's us continue with our secrets to asking and receiving from God.
3. THE WILL OF GOD :
James 4:2-3
2
KJV:Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not.
KJV:Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.
Many christians are very very good at praying for their selfish desires undermining what God has in mind for them. We have lost that desire to ask for things according to His will, when we ask for anointing, it will be so persons can call us Papa or mama, or so that persons will see us and say we have arrived. So ask yourself, that prayer point you have been banging the doors of heaven for, is it for selfish reasons? Be truthful to yourself. Can you honestly say that what you are asking God for will give glory to Him?
4. DON'T GIVE UP :
Some persons get tired of asking for something after asking for while and not getting an answer. They just give up and say God doesn't what to give it to me. I used to have an health issue infact I had alot of health issues growing up as a kid. So I had to learn about faith, divine health and the miraculous from infancy if not I would probably have died a long time ago. So there was this particular issue I had and I prayed for healing for nearly ten years before I got my healing. There were times when I felt like this case was beyond healing but I held on afterall I just believed God loved me too much to want to afflict me or allow any affliction end my life and destiny. So I ask you, why are you giving up? Have you waited as long as Elizabeth(mother of John the Baptist) waited? Really why are you giving up so early. I have asked persons this question whenever they tell me that they no longer bother praying that prayer point again because God hasn't answer so they feel He doesn't what to answer and then I ask, "did God expressly tell you that He won't answer you and so you make to that conclusion or you had actually given up". Please realise that there are basically two factors involved when it comes to answered prayers,
1. Your faith
2. God's plan and purpose for you at that particular time in your life.
Realise my dear that no matter how much faith you have and pray with, it doesn't change the will of God for you. Hezekiah prayed to God and He changed His mind and added 15 more years to his life. That's correct but have you read further to see the aftermath or consequences of that? That was the passive will of God because God wanted to prevent something from happening but man as a result of limited knowledge still made it happen. So why would you want the passive will of God over the active will of God? So I encourage you to pray according to the will of God for you no matter how difficult it may be and please don't give up no matter how long it takes.
5. ASKING IN HIS NAME :
Lastly, we are taught through scriptures that the only and surest way of receiving answers to our prayers is by asking in the name of JESUS. There is so much power in that name, it is in that name that we have authority over any other power or principality not of God(Phil 2:7-11), it is in that name that we are given the power to heal the sick, raise the dead, cast out demons etc ( Mark 16:17), it is in His name that salvation for all men is received ( Acts 4:12). I just wanted to highlight the powers in Jesus' name, for this series we are just going to be looking at the asking and receiving part of the powers in His name. Now, scriptures tell us three conditions for using His name.
Jesus himself told us through scriptures that if we ask the father through his name we will receive, if we ask Him(Jesus) through His name, we will receive and finally if the word abides in us and we ask anything in His name, we will receive ( John 14:13-14, 15:7). So have you been asking in His name?
I have taught you major secrets to receiving whatever it is you ask for when you pray. Please know that I didn't teach all nor was this teaching exhaustive but the goal is for you to know and put to practice some of this major secrets that are so glaring from scriptures. I hope you have been blessed by this post. God bless you for reading and please do have a nice great day and a wonderful weekend ahead.
