DESTINY HELPERS OR DESTINY DESTROYERS

 Good morning dear reader and I welcome you to the last weekend of 2018. I hope you have had an amazing night rest and a wonderful day so far. I want to appreciate my constant visitors to this blog, persons  who read the write-ups, are blessed by them and happily share to their friends, families, colleagues, church members and enemies on any social media platform across the globe. See more: Godly Standard in a relationship      This beautiful Saturday morning we will be look at the topic, "Destiny helpers or destiny destroyers". According to the 8th edition of the Oxford advanced learner's dictionary, DESTINY means what happens to someone or what will happen to them in the future, especially things they cannot change or avoid. So the word destiny means something or a purpose that someone has been created to achieved. So destiny helpers means persons or people who help you, who inspire you, who motivate you, who encourage you and set you on the right path to achieving and fulfilling your purpose while destiny destroyers are vice versa. Throughout scriptures we see too many glaring evidences to prove that everything God created were created for certain reasons even right from Gen 1, we see this glaring but ignored fact so many times. But very few persons have realised that. We also see many times in scriptures also how men were destined for different things, so if you don't believe in destiny or purpose, you should have a solid re-think. In this write up, I am not writing about achieving your purpose or fulfilling destiny rather I am interested in pointing out to you, how to know, recognize and appreciate your destiny helpers or destroyers. Now let's go to scriptures
Judges 13:1-5

KJV:And the children of Israel did evil again in the sight of the Lord; and the Lord delivered them into the hand of the Philistines forty years.

KJV:And there was a certain man of Zorah, of the family of the Danites, whose name was Manoah; and his wife was barren, and bare not.

KJV:And the angel of the Lord appeared unto the woman, and said unto her, Behold now, thou art barren, and bearest not: but thou shalt conceive, and bear a son.

KJV:Now therefore beware, I pray thee, and drink not wine nor strong drink, and eat not any unclean thing:

KJV:For, lo, thou shalt conceive, and bear a son; and no razor shall come on his head: for the child shall be a Nazarite unto God from the womb: and he shall begin to deliver Israel out of the hand of the Philistines.

      If you are a constant reader of this blog, you would realise that I always like to start from the beginning, I like to lay solid foundations, so as we progress, you won't get lost. We are going to be looking at the life of Samson to help us point how powerful destiny can be, how to realise destiny helpers or destiny destroyers. I chose this story because it is brief, concise and very precise. So from verse one of judges chapter 13, we see that the Israelites were under oppression for forty years, that's a lot of years. Then we see an angel visiting a certain barren woman who was married to Manoah. In verse 5, we see the angel unveiling the purposes and intentions of God concerning the child she was to carry. So that tells you that the easiest and surest way to know your destiny without missing it, is to ask HIM. He created you, so He should tell you why He did so. I can assure you, He is super excited to let you know why He created you. Though an angel mustn't appear to you to tell you. If you want to know more read my post on created for purpose. Now, let's proceed.
Judges 13:8-14

KJV:Then Manoah intreated the Lord, and said, O my Lord, let the man of God which thou didst send come again unto us, and teach us what we shall do unto the child that shall be born.

KJV:And God hearkened to the voice of Manoah; and the angel of God came again unto the woman as she sat in the field: but Manoah her husband was not with her.

KJV:And the woman made haste, and ran, and shewed her husband, and said unto him, Behold, the man hath appeared unto me, that came unto me the other day.

KJV:And Manoah arose, and went after his wife, and came to the man, and said unto him, Art thou the man that spakest unto the woman? And he said, I am.

KJV:And Manoah said, Now let thy words come to pass. How shall we order the child, and how shall we do unto him?

KJV:And the angel of the Lord said unto Manoah, Of all that I said unto the woman let her beware.

KJV:She may not eat of any thing that cometh of the vine, neither let her drink wine or strong drink, nor eat any unclean thing: all that I commanded her let her observe.

    Now we see a full gist of the destiny of the child and what were expected of his parents. Now, there is an important lesson for us to learn here, something that has replayed over and over again in scriptures. Have you noticed that whenever the destiny of a child is to be revealed, it was primarily to the parents. We see it happen with David about Solomon, Zachariah about John the Baptist, Joseph about Jesus, Abraham about Isaac, Rebekah about Jacob and Esau etc. So many examples are scattered throughout scriptures. Now that tells you that your first destiny helpers or destroyers would be your parents. But many times our parents do not even know what our destinies are needless to say assist us in achieving them. The remedy to that is for you to search out your destiny yourself. So as a parent, before you get pregnant, you should begin to seek the face of God concerning your children, what are the purposes of God concerning that child(ren), what is required of you as a parent. I have seen a lot of persons excel at business, academics, ministry etc but fail woefully at parenting. Parenting is serious business. So for would be parents, I don't know how early you should seek the face of God concerning your kids but I do know you are supposed to before they are born. It is your duty to know as a parent, so you can steer them in the right path. But if you don't know what their destinies are, chances are, you will be more of a destroyer than a destiny helper. Even in our African culture, many times we have seen people say, go and ask your parents circumstances surrounding your birth. They were simply saying go and find out what your parents know about your destiny. If unbelievers could realise this fact and always go to sacrifice stuffs to their gods, so they will know what kind of star the child they are carrying would bear how much more we as believers should realise that this is super important and shouldn't be ignored. Now let's continue with our story
Judges 13:24-25

KJV:And the woman bare a son, and called his name Samson: and the child grew, and the Lord blessed him.

25

KJV:And the Spirit of the Lord began to move him at times in the camp of Dan between Zorah and Eshtaol.

        It is very important that we take of what was stated in this verses. I will reference them as we go on.
Judges 14: 1-4

KJV:And Samson went down to Timnath, and saw a woman in Timnath of the daughters of the Philistines.

KJV:And he came up, and told his father and his mother, and said, I have seen a woman in Timnath of the daughters of the Philistines: now therefore get her for me to wife.

KJV:Then his father and his mother said unto him, Is there never a woman among the daughters of thy brethren, or among all my people, that thou goest to take a wife of the uncircumcised Philistines? And Samson said unto his father, Get her for me; for she pleaseth me well.

KJV:But his father and his mother knew not that it was of the Lord, that he sought an occasion against the Philistines: for at that time the Philistines had dominion over Israel.

     Did you notice something very interesting? The same parents who were aware of the destiny of the child were not aware when God had begin to move him to fulfilling his purpose. That tells you that the next set of destiny helpers or destroyers is YOU. Fulfilling your destiny largely depends on you. I have seen a lot of persons blame their parents, friends, society, government etc but if you listen to their stories very well, you will realise that they are their own problems. Whether or not your parents have diligently sought out what your destiny is, you should do too, so you would be sure. Don't wait for someone else to inspire you or motivate you or push you to be a better you. That's your responsibility. It is your duty. Discipline yourself, motivate yourself, grow yourself, inspire yourself. History is filled with people who didn't have anyone believe they can amount to anything but they trusted in themselves and succeeded. The likes of Micheal Faraday, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Edison, Albert Einstein and so on. Read about their biographies and see for yourself. Don't give yourself a reason to be a failure, remain a failure or worst still a reason for your failure. Get up and get going. Don't stop until you succeed.
Judges 15: 9-13

KJV:Then the Philistines went up, and pitched in Judah, and spread themselves in Lehi.

KJV:And the men of Judah said, Why are ye come up against us? And they answered, To bind Samson are we come up, to do to him as he hath done to us.

KJV:Then three thousand men of Judah went to the top of the rock Etam, and said to Samson, Knowest thou not that the Philistines are rulers over us? what is this that thou hast done unto us? And he said unto them, As they did unto me, so have I done unto them.

KJV:And they said unto him, We are come down to bind thee, that we may deliver thee into the hand of the Philistines. And Samson said unto them, Swear unto me, that ye will not fall upon me yourselves.

13

KJV:And they spake unto him, saying, No; but we will bind thee fast, and deliver thee into their hand: but surely we will not kill thee. And they bound him with two new cords, and brought him up from the rock.

    Please from here onwards, I am not listing out your destiny helpers or destroyers in any particular order. I am just following the sequence with which they appear in this story. The next category of your destiny helpers or destroyers are found amongst your relatives, friends and colleagues. But interestingly in this story it doesn't seem as if they are his helpers but remember our definition of destiny helpers? If you do, you will see that God was using this people achieve his purposes and will for Samson. As this year comes to an end, have you taken time out to think about your friendships, have you appreciated those who have truly been with you and helped you progress on the right path, have you also realised those who initially seemed like destiny destroyers but God had used them to set you on the right path like in this story and appreciated them too??
Judges 16:4-6

KJV:And it came to pass afterward, that he loved a woman in the valley of Sorek, whose name was Delilah.

KJV:And the lords of the Philistines came up unto her, and said unto her, Entice him, and see wherein his great strength lieth, and by what means we may prevail against him, that we may bind him to afflict him; and we will give thee every one of us eleven hundred pieces of silver.

KJV:And Delilah said to Samson, Tell me, I pray thee, wherein thy great strength lieth, and wherewith thou mightest be bound to afflict thee.

         Now we see another destiny helper or destroyer. YOUR SPOUSE. You see why it is very very infact extremely important that you marry the right person. If you get married to the wrong person, you will definitely regret it for the rest of your life. I have seen vibrant youths get married and just quench. Marriage is supposed to enable you achieve twice as much as you did as a single. It is a terrible thing to marry the wrong person. In this story we see the first hand experience of being in love or getting married to the wrong person. Just read the whole of chapter 16 on your own. The cause of great Samson's downfall was loving the wrong person and she dashed his destiny so strongly it was almost way out of repair. Persons have said, deciding who to marry is your second most important decision in your life. Don't trivialise it, don't joke with it. It is never too early to start praying for or about your life partner.
Judges 16:23-28

KJV:Then the lords of the Philistines gathered them together for to offer a great sacrifice unto Dagon their god, and to rejoice: for they said, Our god hath delivered Samson our enemy into our hand.

KJV:And when the people saw him, they praised their god: for they said, Our god hath delivered into our hands our enemy, and the destroyer of our country, which slew many of us.

25

KJV:And it came to pass, when their hearts were merry, that they said, Call for Samson, that he may make us sport. And they called for Samson out of the prison house; and he made them sport: and they set him between the pillars.

KJV:And Samson said unto the lad that held him by the hand, Suffer me that I may feel the pillars whereupon the house standeth, that I may lean upon them.

27

KJV:Now the house was full of men and women; and all the lords of the Philistines were there; and there were upon the roof about three thousand men and women, that beheld while Samson made sport.

28

KJV:And Samson called unto the Lord, and said, O Lord God, remember me, I pray thee, and strengthen me, I pray thee, only this once, O God, that I may be at once avenged of the Philistines for my two eyes.

     Now, we see the last type of a destiny helper or destroyer. A STRANGER, funny enough, this is the only category persons think or believe their destiny helpers or destroyers should come from. I have heard a lot of persons as I am sure you have too, say that they just wish someone will just give them money to start business now. They think that the only destiny helpers or destroyers we have are supposed to be strangers. If you have read this post from beginning to end, you should know better now.
          As this year comes to an end, you probably may not have fared very well in this year but have you taken time out to do an assessment on yourself? See your flaws, weaknesses, strengths and achievements? Have you taken time out also to pray and plan for 2019? If you have not, it is important that you do so.
