This evening, we will be looking at the topic; Power of a woman. Looking at the definition of Power from English dictionary, power means capability or influence, to be capable of doing something, also to have influence over somebody. It therefore means being capable of doing something and having influence over somebody or group of persons.
Now ,let's move to the definition of who a Woman is, from English dictionary, a woman is an adult female human,a woman is also a wife. Looking at scriptures
Gen 2:18-24

:And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.

19

KJV:And out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof.

20

KJV:And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him.

21

KJV:And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;

22

KJV:And the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.

23

KJV:And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.

24

KJV:Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh

Let's start from vs 18,a woman was defined as a help meet, also when we move down to vs 23 ,Adam defined a woman as his bone of his bone and flesh of his flesh.
Knowing the definition of both terms, now we define power of a woman as the influence has,a woman capability. Let's site some scriptural examples where women had influence on human race, their society and spouse.
  Esther 4:6-16

Hatach went forth to Mordecai unto the street of the city, which was before the king's gate.

7

KJV:And Mordecai told him of all that had happened unto him, and of the sum of the money that Haman had promised to pay to the king's treasuries for the Jews, to destroy them.

8

KJV:Also he gave him the copy of the writing of the decree that was given at Shushan to destroy them, to shew it unto Esther, and to declare it unto her, and to charge her that she should go in unto the king, to make supplication unto him, and to make request before him for her people.

9

KJV:And Hatach came and told Esther the words of Mordecai.

10

KJV:Again Esther spake unto Hatach, and gave him commandment unto Mordecai;

11

KJV:All the king's servants, and the people of the king's provinces, do know, that whosoever, whether man or women, shall come unto the king into the inner court, who is not called, there is one law of his to put him to death, except such to whom the king shall hold out the golden sceptre, that he may live: but I have not been called to come in unto the king these thirty days.

12

KJV:And they told to Mordecai Esther's words.

13

KJV:Then Mordecai commanded to answer Esther, Think not with thyself that thou shalt escape in the king's house, more than all the Jews.

14

KJV:For if thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time, then shall there enlargement and deliverance arise to the Jews from another place; but thou and thy father's house shall be destroyed: and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?

15

KJV:Then Esther bade them return Mordecai this answer,

16

KJV:Go, gather together all the Jews that are present in Shushan, and fast ye for me, and neither eat nor drink three days, night or day: I also and my maidens will fast likewise; and so will I go in unto the king, which is not according to the law: and if I perish, I perish.

Esther 8:1-10

:On that day did the king Ahasuerus give the house of Haman the Jews' enemy unto Esther the queen. And Mordecai came before the king; for Esther had told what he was unto her.

2

KJV:And the king took off his ring, which he had taken from Haman, and gave it unto Mordecai. And Esther set Mordecai over the house of Haman.

3

KJV:And Esther spake yet again before the king, and fell down at his feet, and besought him with tears to put away the mischief of Haman the Agagite, and his device that he had devised against the Jews.

4

KJV:Then the king held out the golden sceptre toward Esther. So Esther arose, and stood before the king,

5

KJV:And said, If it please the king, and if I have favour in his sight, and the thing seem right before the king, and I be pleasing in his eyes, let it be written to reverse the letters devised by Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, which he wrote to destroy the Jews which are in all the king's provinces:

6

KJV:For how can I endure to see the evil that shall come unto my people? or how can I endure to see the destruction of my kindred?

7

KJV:Then the king Ahasuerus said unto Esther the queen and to Mordecai the Jew, Behold, I have given Esther the house of Haman, and him they have hanged upon the gallows, because he laid his hand upon the Jews.

8

KJV:Write ye also for the Jews, as it liketh you, in the king's name, and seal it with the king's ring: for the writing which is written in the king's name, and sealed with the king's ring, may no man reverse.

9

KJV:Then were the king's scribes called at that time in the third month, that is, the month Sivan, on the three and twentieth day thereof; and it was written according to all that Mordecai commanded unto the Jews, and to the lieutenants, and the deputies and rulers of the provinces which are from India unto Ethiopia, an hundred twenty and seven provinces, unto every province according to the writing thereof, and unto every people after their language, and to the Jews according to their writing, and according to their language.

10

KJV:And he wrote in the king Ahasuerus' name, and sealed it with the king's ring, and sent letters by posts on horseback, and riders on mules, camels, and young dromedaries:

Esther made a positive influence as an intercessor, through her prayers she changed the law. This happened because she knew the power she had.Looking at another example we have in the Bible is the story of Samson and Delilah
Judges 16:4-21

And it came to pass afterward, that he loved a woman in the valley of Sorek, whose name was Delilah.

5

KJV:And the lords of the Philistines came up unto her, and said unto her, Entice him, and see wherein his great strength lieth, and by what means we may prevail against him, that we may bind him to afflict him; and we will give thee every one of us eleven hundred pieces of silver.

6

KJV:And Delilah said to Samson, Tell me, I pray thee, wherein thy great strength lieth, and wherewith thou mightest be bound to afflict thee.

7

KJV:And Samson said unto her, If they bind me with seven green withs that were never dried, then shall I be weak, and be as another man.

8

KJV:Then the lords of the Philistines brought up to her seven green withs which had not been dried, and she bound him with them.

9

KJV:Now there were men lying in wait, abiding with her in the chamber. And she said unto him, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he brake the withs, as a thread of tow is broken when it toucheth the fire. So his strength was not known.

10

KJV:And Delilah said unto Samson, Behold, thou hast mocked me, and told me lies: now tell me, I pray thee, wherewith thou mightest be bound.

11

KJV:And he said unto her, If they bind me fast with new ropes that never were occupied, then shall I be weak, and be as another man.

12

KJV:Delilah therefore took new ropes, and bound him therewith, and said unto him, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And there were liers in wait abiding in the chamber. And he brake them from off his arms like a thread.

13

KJV:And Delilah said unto Samson, Hitherto thou hast mocked me, and told me lies: tell me wherewith thou mightest be bound. And he said unto her, If thou weavest the seven locks of my head with the web.

14

KJV:And she fastened it with the pin, and said unto him, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he awaked out of his sleep, and went away with the pin of the beam, and with the web.

15

KJV:And she said unto him, How canst thou say, I love thee, when thine heart is not with me? thou hast mocked me these three times, and hast not told me wherein thy great strength lieth.

16

KJV:And it came to pass, when she pressed him daily with her words, and urged him, so that his soul was vexed unto death;

17

KJV:That he told her all his heart, and said unto her, There hath not come a razor upon mine head; for I have been a Nazarite unto God from my mother's womb: if I be shaven, then my strength will go from me, and I shall become weak, and be like any other man.

18

KJV:And when Delilah saw that he had told her all his heart, she sent and called for the lords of the Philistines, saying, Come up this once, for he hath shewed me all his heart. Then the lords of the Philistines came up unto her, and brought money in their hand.

19

KJV:And she made him sleep upon her knees; and she called for a man, and she caused him to shave off the seven locks of his head; and she began to afflict him, and his strength went from him.

20

KJV:And she said, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he awoke out of his sleep, and said, I will go out as at other times before, and shake myself. And he wist not that the Lord was departed from him.

21

KJV:But the Philistines took him, and put out his eyes, and brought him down to Gaza, and bound him with fetters of brass; and he did grind in the prison house.

Delilah made a negative influence as a betrayer through her deceitful words, she made Samson believe her and ended betraying him. So we have established the fact that a woman can be a positive influence and a negative influence but as Christians we will be looking at how and why a woman should be a positive influence with the following points
1.Being an intercessor
Just like the example of Esther, she prayed because she knew the power of prayer as an intercessor. As a wife, you should always pray for your home because a prayer less wife will produce a faulty foundation in a home. A home built on prayers will flourish. It is necessary for a woman to be an intercessor, since she's the home builder, training the children in prayers and with prayers also supporting the husband. Having a solid home produces a better society at large.
2. Being the biggest support and fan
As a woman and a wife, you should be the biggest fan of your husband. Having a vision to run with, as a woman filled with power you have the ability to support him to any length he wants to go. Just like the popular saying "behind every successful man is a woman" modifying it I would say "behind any successful man there is a woman that knows the magnitude of  influence she has". If all women support and inspire their husbands to fulfill their visions, we will have more successful men and the society will be a better place.
2. Being the major influence
As a woman and a wife, you should be the major influence of your husband. There are times when he will be angry, as a woman, you should be able to calm him down, also when he is sad and depressed, you should be able to make him happy. A situation where another lady outside your home is able to control your husband's temperament, then you know that there is a problem in your home. You are not taking tour role as the major influence seriously.  Yes !, you have the power in you to tame him, use it positively.
4. Being a standby
Using a company that has a standby generator for instance, when there is power failure, the standby generator automatically comes on so quickly that it is difficult to know what happened. So should a woman also be to her husband, woman should always be there to cover her husband's shortcomings without a third party knowing.
Finally to my single ladies, becoming all these things (as an intercessor, biggest fan, major influence and a standby) doesnt just start in one day. You have to build yourself as a woman to become all these. The question now becomes, how do I build myself? Firstly, by knowing your purpose is the fundamental thing you need to know, then you can think of achieving it by reading books, making friends with impact, praying in line with it. After all these things have been done, after equipping yourself with knowledge then you can be certain that when the right man comes who will be working in line with your purpose, you will be all these mentioned above to him and more, even to the society at large.
