CREATED FOR A PURPOSE 2
KJV:In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
KJV:And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
KJV:And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
KJV:And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.
KJV:And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.
KJV:And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.
KJV:And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.
KJV:And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.
KJV:And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so.
KJV:And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good.
KJV:And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.
KJV:And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good.
KJV:And the evening and the morning were the third day.
KJV:And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:
KJV:And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.
KJV:And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.
KJV:And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth,
KJV:And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good.
KJV:And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.
KJV:And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven.
KJV:And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good.
KJV:And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth.
KJV:And the evening and the morning were the fifth day.
KJV:And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so.
KJV:And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good.
KJV:And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. Gen 1:1-26
Good morning dear reader. I hope you had a peaceful and wonderful night rest. I also hope you have been enjoying your weekend so far. In my last write-up, we looked at the fact that God never creates anything without having plans, visions, purposes and/or expectations from His creature. We treated the first of the five very important questions that everyone and anyone who wants to make an impact in his/her world should answer (which is an excerpt from my book: success driven). Today we will be treating the remaining four questions. Before I continue I want to implore you to please after reading this write-up, you share to your friends and groups on any social media available in your country. God bless you as you do so.
2) Why am I here?
This answers the question of PURPOSE. We are told to live a purposeful life, that we should live with a vision, a vision that so occupies us; that is, purpose driven thoughts, imaginations. Then we are told that the thing that drives us is our purpose on the earth. And yet we find it very difficult to locate what this purpose is. Let me show you a way of finding your purpose. Please, I am not attempting to teach something that persons have researched their entire life, clearly have a better grasp of and have even written several quality books on. I am only trying to show you pointers as briefly and as extensively as I can, for the purpose of this our journey. How do you know your purpose? One way I found mine was this: I became aware that I always noticed certain needs anywhere I went. One mistake we always make is that we think everyone can see things the same way we see things. That is so untrue, 100 persons will look at the same picture or painting and see 100 different things. This is called perspective. What obvious needs do you see around you? I am not talking about charitable deeds, that is what we tend to think about when things like these are mentioned.
(3) What can I really do?
This answers the question of ACTION or PLAN. After seeing a need, what can you do about providing satisfaction to that need. Take for instance, I am opening a company that specializes in events planning. Of all types of business to venture into, why did I pick that one? I probably discovered that people want the best kind of birthday or wedding receptions e.t.c but don't have the time to plan them or don't want the stress and headaches of planning them, so I offer to be in charge of one such event. If after planning such an event and nobody in the world can understand the kind of joy I felt for planning such event even if it was on a small scale. It is probably maybe because it is the first time, so I try again and again and I still get the same amazing feeling. All these events are on a small scale though, I am not collecting money from it but yet I am happy, enjoying what I am doing and I am feeling joy, the same kind of feeling I get from public speaking and teaching of scriptures. So I can decide to make a business out of it (that is, public speaking and events planning). So, in my opinion our purpose comes from a need we enjoy satisfying.
(4) where am I going ?
This answers the question of EXPECTATIONS or VISION. The problem many of us have as Christians is our level of mediocrity in business; our tendency to settle for less. Some of us tend to think that there are specific persons who are supposed to get to the top.
But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and earth and some to honour, and some to dishonour, if a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified and meet for the master's use and prepared unto every good work. (2 Tim 2:20-21) (KJV)
We quote just verse 20 of this scripture and forget about verse 21, you see in that scripture, we were only told the type of vessels that exists that is the kind of humans that they are, some from rich backgrounds, some from poor backgrounds, some with high level of intelligence, others with very low level of intelligence etc. Then we are told that some are unto honour and others unto dishonour. The first thought that comes to mind is that the vessels of earth and wood are likely the ones to be used for dishonour, while the gold and silver for honour. I mean, it does look like what verse 20 is saying but from my experience I have seen that no verse stands on its own, precepts upon precepts, line upon line. Look at verse 21, we are told the criteria on which any of these vessels will be fit for the master's use. He said, "if a man purge himself from these things", that is to say, if the gold is not properly purged it will be used for dishonourable services. If the vessel of earth is properly purged and packaged, it will be used for honourable services. God is no respecter of persons. Our success in life is not dependent on our parents, friends or even background. It is dependent largely on us, second only to God. Can you see that you alone determine how far you will go in life. Nobody decides that for you, not your friends, your spouse, your parents, your siblings. YOU ARE YOUR OWN PILOT. If you want to go far, you know you have to do a lot of things, are you ready to pay the sacrifices. The first thing is study, plan, then implement. Never venture into a business, you have not studied about.
(5) Why did you give me breath?
I think Matthew 28:18-20 answers that question beautifully well. The next question that comes to mind is how does this question fit in with the question of why am I here? Like I earlier said, God doesn't expect us all to be ministerial pastors but he expects us all to win souls for him. So as you are doing what it is that you enjoy doing, also do God's own. What do I mean? For instance, you own an eatery, a powerful message can be playing at the background, so that as their bodies are being refreshed, their spirit man will also be getting refreshed or even maybe gospel songs be playing at the background. But for some persons God could be calling you into full time ministry, if you see these needs most likely, God wants to use you to raise persons who will conveniently provide solutions to these needs. In summary, God alone can tell you specifically why He gave you breath, so you have to ask him. Though, it will not be farfetched from Matthew 28:18-20; He will tell you how he wants you to achieve them. There are a lot of fantastic books on hearing from God or finding your purpose. Please grab them and read them.
So find your purpose in life, that tells you your identity or significance in life, then you plan on how to go about fulfilling your purpose. Then decide how far you want to go, how significant you want to be in life. Most importantly, ask God for the reason why He gave you breath.
