SPIRITUAL WARFARE
KJV:For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:
KJV:(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)
KJV:Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
KJV:And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.
Good evening to you, my beloved reader. I hope you have had an amazing and excellent weekend. Today, I am writing on "spiritual warfare". You see as believers whenever this topic is raised, the first thing that always comes to mind is the war against the devil and his cohorts. Of how we need to fight against principalities and powers, against territorial domineering spirits, of how we need to go on forty days or for some of us one hundred days fasting to fight against the demons of our father's or mother's house.
Well, if you study the New Testament very well, the inspired writers give us the impression that we are already victorious over the devil, that the devil won't even dare touch or harm us because we have become royalty. So what then is this spiritual warfare that apostle Paul talks about here. Let us look at this scripture again, verse 3, tells us that even though we are in the flesh, we do not war against the flesh. Do we remember Gal 5:19-22, the fruits of the flesh. So the Holy Spirit through the apostle tells us, hey young man or woman, yes you are in the flesh but your war isn't primarily with the flesh but the strongholds that have taken hold of your flesh to make you bear fruits of the flesh. So what do these weapons do? He tells us in verse 5 that they cast down imaginations and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; do you see that. You see, before we became Christians some of us had already spent some years as unbelievers, unserious Christians and as such we dabbled into a lot of demeaning things probably watched a lot of pornography or got used to thinking even plans. This is the spiritual warfare apostle Paul is talking about, he is saying, hey, yes you were unbelievers before you became Christians and as such you had principles, knowledge, imaginations and lifestyles that either exalteth itself against God or even were disgusting in His sight. He goes on to say, but don't be discouraged not only have you been saved but despite the devil still flashes your past into your mind to remind of the pleasures to make you backslide, listen you have already been equipped enough to bring all these thoughts, imaginations or even strongholds to the obedience of Christ. Can you smile for this victory and tell God thank you.
The next question becomes what is/are the weapon(s) of our warfare? Join us on Wednesday as we will be talking about that on this same blog. Please read, be blessed, comment and share to your friends. The world is in dire need of the word of God. Help us spread this word. God bless you and do have a wonderful night rest of you. Shalom
